• How to play the game
-Click once on the center window to activate the game. The pool stick is locked behind the cue ball. Move the mouse around to navigate and to line up your shot.
-Once you have lined up your shot, tap the [Space Bar] to commit (lock) to the shot (press again to unlock). The stick will move with the mouse. Once you're ready to shoot, pull the mouse toward you and then thrust the mouse away from you to hit the ball. The stick will follow, executing the shot.
-Click the mouse again to regain access to the interface.
-You must wait for all balls to come to rest before the next shot can begin.
• Memory and Performance
RealPool™ should run well on any Power Macintosh with 16MB of built-in RAM. Although RealPool™ will run with Virtual Memory, certain elements of the RealPool engine require real RAM in order to function correctly. Ultimate performance requires an allocation of at least 10.5 MB of free real RAM. (You can determine how much memory you have available by choosing About This Macintosh from the Apple menu.)
There are many things you can do to free up RAM and make RealPool™ run. If you are running the game on a 16MB machine, you need to get your system software to be using 5.5 MB of RAM, or less. To reduce the amount of RAM your system is using, try the following options:
1. Turn off all unnecessary extensions. To play Real Pool, you only need the Sound Manager extension enabled, or no extensions if you use OS 8 or 8.1. Turn off unnecessary extensions using the Extensions Manager control panel. Under OS 8 and 8.1, you will free up more memory in this manner than you will by holding down the [Shift] key while starting up your computer.
2. Turn off extra sounds. To turn off the sound press the [S] key while the Real Pool is running.
RealPool™ will always run better if Virtual Memory is off.
